Hello there my fellow mark III owners.

As some may know ive already owned two mark III's and now i am debating on which mark supra is next i want a mark iv because its what ive always wanted but then i like the mkiii cuz its so unique and powerful.

now the reason i ask for you opionion is not which car to get rather,

do you think that a MARKIII could beat a MARKIV in a show?

ive entered 2 time and won, with a moderate looking supra, nice clean.
i dint have tvs everywhere or audio stuff, but something appealing, the catch is i won because there were no other supras there LOL...

what i think is that if there was a mark iv they would have won.

what do you guy think.. whta does it take for a mark iii to beat a mark iv

suggestion please..

You need a MK4 body kit on the MK3 for the MK3 to win.... :biglaugh:

So just buy an MK4........

Really depends on what condition your mk3 is. It is 10+ year old car, so you may need to spend a lot of money to get it extra clean....

Hell yes. It just has to be nicer than the Mk4. Cleaner, more tasteful, more horsepower, preferably all of the above. I've seen some pretty crappy looking Mk4s... and I've seen some pretty amazing Mk3s.

If BecauseIcan were to enter his against a stock Mk4, he'd whoop it so bad the Mk4 driver wouldn't be willing to show his face for years.

It really depends I think. Most people will see the mkiv and go "wow nice Supra". While a good percent of those people won't even know that there was a Supra before the mkiv.

So yes, definitly, if they got the correct people to judge; and the car actually was deserving of the prize.

Randy... you make outrageous custom fabbed stuff, your own twin kit, manifolds, downpipes, etc. Incredibly gifted as a fabricator and welder... and you've got a SODA BOTTLE as your overflow?? ;) Just playin', and I love those black valve covers for some reason. Fit and finish on the twins is great.

I bet there's a cool story behind the reason for the soda bottle, anyone know it?

If that is what I think it is--the overflow hose from the coolant reservoir--it could be used to see if there is a BHG leak between a cylinder and a water jacket. The combustion pressure would seep into the water jacket and push the coolant out of the reservoir tank and into the soda bottle.

Hello back at you. As far as what car would beat which in a show: that is like asking if a brunette can beat a blonde in a beauty pageant. All depends on too many factors that I won’t even have time to list half, but some depend on who the judge/s is/are, how each is modified, if the judges favor one make over the other and will be biased (and that can work both ways), and on and on. Why try to please others when you could try to please your own eyes instead. You be the one with the vision and build it instead of thinking of how others have been successful. If you have taste, then come up with your own ideas. It has been said that 90% of art is basically inspired by something else, or was it, 90% of art was copied off of something else. Anyways, you can be inspired by other things, but I would say build what you want and how you want it. Knowing I build something I like is more important to me than building something everyone likes that I don’t. Many people enter shows for different reasons though. Some win shows in order to add it to their resumes and ultimately increase their reputations, and that is cool too, but I am just so used to being creative for myself and not in the interest of impressing others first, that the other philosophy is kind of foreign to me.

I don’t know what you are really after, but I just told you how I think. Maybe it would work for you and maybe it won’t.

I am proud to have a Supra that is in the same line of a machine that puts out 320 HP stock. No doubt about the MK4 being a well designed machine with great technology in it. But I always thought that it looked too much like a sportier version of the Honda Prelude. For my eye, an MK3 was a much better looking car when it debuted. The MK2 was easily the best looking for its time. As of now, I would say that a well done up MK3 is the best looking of all, in my opinion. But I would also say that an MK4 does have a higher level of status associated with it. A lawyer friend of mine had a loaded MK4 and was telling me that it retailed for $52,000. (Now that I think of it, I actually do know an MK4 guy, but then again, he did not have it when I knew him).

Long post because I am an opinionated person and you did ask for my opinion(heheh).

Just build the car for you either way you look at a both the MK3 and MK4 can be made into some nice looking show cars, just look at some of the ones that's on here.

I don't like some shows for that exact reason, lots of people seem to love all these body kits and whatnot. I like mkiv's that have stock lines, maybe the RMM wing, that's it. No hokey body kits, wild colors, etc. I think that kills the look of the car. The mk3 has its own stately appearance that IMO can look 10x more menacing than a mk4, it just needs some dedication :)

Well I'm proud to say that I've beaten a few MKIV's in car shows. I took 1st place in the Toyota Street class this summer at the Texas Heat Wave Show. Most shows are judged on a points system so it really doesn't matter what type of car you enter. (example) 10 points each: Engine, Interior, Paint, Undercarrage, Wheels, Attention to Details.

car shows arent usually judged on the car, but rather whats done to it. a 400hp turbo civic with nice wheels and tasteful body mods has a better chance than a BPU MKIV on stock wheels and some gauges.

You know what I like most about his twin set up? The color of the exhaust manifold. ;)
