I'm here as well.

Hey Aaron, did you ever decide what color you were going with?

Yeah, I'd like to know too. Maybe we can get a meet sometime in the relatively near future since it's getting warmer out. I'm still pissed I missed the Steele meet because of dry rotted tires. :3d_frown:

Another Bama supra owner in T-Town. I just have to break the Supra of marking it's turf. Does anyone know of a good place to get a NA tuned in Tuscaloosa?

What could you possibly tune on an N/A? If you want numbers, just go to Walker's in Trussville. Otherwise, ask around on alabama racing scene dot net for T-town dynos

Dialing in the cams
Adjusting the ignition timing
Various other tweaks and tuning tricks to get extra power out of the motor

Begin Rant:

Too many people think all they have to do to get big numbers is to throw a turbo kit onto their motor and that's all. They seem to forget all about the motor that's attached to that turbo. Alot of times I see a turbo on a shit-tuned motor which ends up destroying the motor. Motor first, turbo last. A turbo is a perfomance enhancer. It doesn't matter how much PSI it can push without well tuned motor behind it.

When people do a NA-T build I advocate a 2 tune process. First tune the motor NA then add your power adders and re-tune the motor. The first tune will help you find the forgotten power of the motor. All those 1-2 RWHP mods that others tell you to forget about because they feel that they are not worth the effort will add up in the end. Escpecially if your trying to get over a certain HP target. And the second tune is to combine the performance of a fine tuned motor with the performance enhancing of the turbo.

This rant was not targetted toward anyone. It was not meant to offend but to inform.
End Rant:

I'm not into building a WOT monster. Just something that can take the turns without having to wait for my motor to reach the upper RPM range for my power band to begin when I hit the apex of the turn

Yeah, if you have aftermarket cams and adjustable cam gears, then yeah, you can move the powerband here and there. Just not loads to be made from what understand/experienced.

When you throw the turbo in the mix, you're looking at a complete turnaround from that tune, usually in the opposite direction (ignition wise).

Again, Walker is cool. Catch a dyno day

I agree with you. Throw in some cams, adjustable gears, PNP, and little off the head. Let's not forget the valve train to handle all that. Which improves the performance of either NA or turbo. With any FI or nitrous you definitely want to retard the timing. If not you're going to Swiss cheese your pistons, if you're lucky.

Mine is down for the count, but it'll be up again in a month or two. I"ve got to make some funds to order new pistons and rods. Keep me posted on any new meets.
