Hey all, New to this forum but not the scene. Haven't really post much on forums though. I have an 89 supra targa NA. I just moved back to the U.S. from japan. While I was in japan I owned a no shit genuine TTR. Didn't know what I had when I first bought it. Thought the R on the back was like a pep boy upgrade deal. But after looking at some more it looked like it had been on there from factory. So I hit up google and found that I had purchased a farely rare car with a lot of goodies for a mere 1400. Loved it while I owned and rebuilt the motor on it. Honestly, and I know from experience, the only thing an R32 or R33 skyline GTR has that kept them slightly in front of me was that AWD. That being said, I tried evey route I could feasibly go to bring this beauty back with me but just couldn't. Sadly I had to watch as it was crane lifted into the back of a junkyard truck. Obviously I couldn't just let it all go to waste, so the only thing left on the supra was the body, minus front quarter panels (they are wider), and drivetrain from tranny back. All interior, exterior, and engine compartment pieces came with me. To include but not limited to the firewall. No I realize I made a huge mistake by not taking rear diff with me. Thought that the turbo supras out here came with the Torsens. They dont. They have LSD of some sort, but not the Torsen type. So if anyone knows of anyone that has one up for grabs hit me up. Will pay good money for that, as well as the JDM folding mirrors that I left on the car as well. I have posted a build thread under the same username on supraforums.com but will be posting one on here as well. But for now if your interested feel free to check it out on there. I have some pics of the 89 that is to be cloned into an RHD TTR on there. Will be posting many more on there as well as on here when my thread get started. Any input or suggestions are welcomed. To give yall an Idea of how far I'm going with the engine build, I have BC springs and titanium retainers and valves on order. I have clevite bearings to be installed, and in the next few months will be purchasing the 264 duration cams from BC as well. I currently have all ARP hardware. Thanks and let me know what yall think.

Nice! Welcome to SM. I'm planning to live abroad in Japan for a few years in the future. It's a good thing you brought most of the car along that stuff was rare. Anyway, forget the torsen lsd it's really not worth the trouble of you trying to find one. Just get an aftermarket lsd as I found out that the torsen lsd sucks in slippery conditions and I'm the type that do some crazy stuff in the rain and snow.

Sweet! I'm planning on living in northern Saitama. What do you think?

Your actually going to be fairly close to tokyo. I was about 400 miles north of tokyo in the Aomori Prefrecture. Either way, japan is awsome. You'll have lots of fun.

Wow! you're like at the very tip of the northern region. You could cross over to Hokkaido any time for some awesome crab. I'm in love with the mountains. I would like to run some of those touges in the future but I'll to see if I'm able to afford a car there as getting as used car can be a hassle I heard. Well I don't really mind walking a lot since I'm a very fit person. I picked Saitama because it is outside of Tokyo so the living expenses would be equal to what I'm at right now. I co-own a house btw, but I also don't want to get too far from Tokyo. It is the same reason why I moved out of Chicago but stayed within a couple hours drive. I like to live the quiet life but I do love to have fun in the city on the weekends.

Buying a car wont be that expensive. Just depends on what your looking for. I found my TT-R for 1400 USD. Keep your eye out. You would be surprised what you can find. Also, check out a website called japan-partner.com. You can usuall find decent cars for a decent price with them. IIRC they are located in tokyo. They do deal locally as well as import/export. Also, the most expensive part is the JCI, which is an inspection required to be done on your car once every two years. Depending on your vehicle type about 600-800 USD for two years. When you buy a car from a local dealer though, they usually come with two years JCI. And every year you will have to pay a road tax on the car. Its like 90 USD. Depends on your car though. The highest I think is like 120. When I get internet at the house maybe I'll take some pics of my paperwork that I have so you can see what it all looks like. Kinda give you a heads up so your not going into it blind. Its not difficult to buy a car out there though. The sales man are usually stubborn as in stiff on the pricing, but also very negotiable at the same time.
