What's the little black thing that the map sensor hose plugs into for?

Just wondering... I had I off the manifold when I did my injectors and blew through it to see what it does. Air goes both ways and it's got a little bit of restriction through it. What is it for though? A filter? A restrictor?

Anyone know?

I've always assumed it's a filter..


and just read they can act as a dampener as well.

I always figured it was a filter also. I have seen them get clogged in camrys, the car ran like crap and it took me forever to find the issue.

Bit of a hint "Macro button" on a real camera

^^LOL On most REAL camera's that are DSLR's there are no macro buttons..... only macro lenses = )

thats a filter for the map sensor. that way itll keep it clean. people have cut these in half and posted it in SF. they were real dirty too
