So i bought a Lexus afm from a member here, and after i pay him he says that it has no afm, like the lip afm housings. Can the afm operate without it?

you will need the platinum grid that is in there and the black electronic box that goes onto the AFM. basically take the components off your current AFM and put them on the lexafm

yes it affects the readings that the AFM receives, it is pretty much necessary..

It straightens the airflow to get a more accurate reading from the KV meter.... do you need it??? thats been debated many times before... some say with a really good air filter like the K&N's you dont need it... some say you need it no matter what...

Michael is correct.

The honeycomb just straightens out the airflow to ensure there are not vorticies or anything like that messing up the afm.

As long as you can create a straight flow (funnel ram), you will be just fine.
