What is the best way to change the oil pan seal on the 7mge. Is there only one seal or are there many? What's the best way to remove the pan from underneath the car to properly clean it and all.??? Any responces would be greatly appreciated, Thank You.

Either drop the (steering rack/K-bar)... something? or lift the engine up a bit. People say theres no gasket but all the gasket sets Ive ordered have had one large cork gasket.

stock, there is no gasket. the cork gasket provided in gasket kits is VERY prone to leaks.

instead of taking the chancewith the cork gasket, do it the way toyota did and use the FIPG. see the tsrm for the correct torque specs and correct application of fipg.

I havent done it but im guessing K-Bar is another name for the steering rack. So a few subframe bolts,m otor mounts and the suspension caps is all I guess. make sure you mark the alignment caps JIC. keep your engine on a hoist to.

I think I would rather just do it than ask or talk about it. It seems much easier to me that way. What the hell is the JIC? Will I need any special type of tools???

Why would it be leaking if there was no seal? It seems logical to me that there is a seal, a gasket or something.

form in place gasket, not an actual cork gasket.

cork gaskets CAN work if you do it right, but they are very prone to leaks. further, toyota did NOT design the oil pan to seal with a cork gasket, they designed it to seal with their form in place gasket.

Even if I get a new seal..., I am still going to high temp silicone it, inside and out. I did this once with a water pump. I was a bit worried about it because I didn't use the high temp. But it's still holding strong and feel'n the flow. Ya dig? I knew that you could. I remember back in the day cork was all you would see when you bought a gasket set and I mean back in the day when my old man used to work on his road runner days.

if you do decide to use the cork gasket on the oil pan (which you shouldnt...) ive had good results with using FIPG all over it. the key is to NOT over torque the oil pan bolts. one time i did it it didnt leak. another time someone else did it leak.

on the motor i have in the car now, i used just FIPG and it dosnt leak at all.

you really should do it the way toyota designed it to be done, with FIPG only.

I wouldn't go cork, period. I think you have to try to tighten each bolt in accordance with the others. One should never be to much more than the other till it's time to have it put to it. If you know what I mean.
