A mass air flow sensor is a better measuring device than a volume air flow device.

If your stock AFM is bad, transfering the electronics to a new housing will not help you. There is always the more pricey MAFT-Pro, which seems to work pretty well once it is set up.

well, it definatly depends on what your plans are for the car. the maftpro is an awesome computer, with tons of features, and it's really not expensive if you look at what else is offered and their options compared with the maftpro's.

i believe it was drjonez who said: "The lex afm is going the way of the dinosaur!" and i cannot agree with him more. i switched from the lex afm to the maftpro, and i was blown away right on initial setup. the car ran better, acclelerated more smootly, and just behaved better in general once the m-pro was inststalled with only minor adjustments.

i'll say that the Maft is better. much better. but it would be overkill if you're keeping the car stock (even though with the use of a wideband, you could probably tune another 20 horsepower out of a stock car)

i highly suggest buying any maft/innovate products from drjonez. his service is incredible, and the technical support is second to none!

yups, as shaeff said, the lex AFM is HIGHLY overrated. for about the same price you could run the MAFT + GM MAF sensor. advantages:

-a NEW MAF sensor (not "new to you")
-you can run the MAF in "blow through" mode
-you can tune using the MAFT's adjustment settings

beyond the original MAFT there is the MAFT gen 2 and the MAFT pro. the official site:

Just pour some bi-tron on it, it cures everything, even AIDS.......

I went with the MAFT-pro w/speed density (map) Can't wait to install it, after weighing the options that are out there, IMO this is the way to go for a piggy back set up.

Is it easy to install? what about tuning with it? should you go to someone who has tuned these before?I was gonna go with the lex and 550's but now im seriously considering this.

Have all the bugs been worked out of the MAFT Pro? I have not been reading that enormous tuning thread.
The majority of the "bugs" was just hiccups of the first groups of us beating the learning curve. Its not difficult to tune by any means, but you do need to understand tccs or learn it , or have a tuner to maximize its potential. The threads you are referring to will provide most of the things you need.

The lex AFM and SAFC mod is pretty simple and effective. Probably the cheapest way to safely run more boost and power.

I'm ready to make a switch to the MAFT-pro, which seems to be the latest and greatest piggyback for the MK3. Isn't there supposed to be one more software version to be released soon??
