Going to need to rebuild this. i think the previous owner said it was 60 trim. From what I've read its the least dependable upgrade. There is some play up and down. I want your advice on whats the best way to go with this. I don't need the biggest, baddest turbo,I just want it to be dependable...

Is that something I can do myself? Or should I send it somewhere ? Also can in be reliable? I think the 400 HP is plenty for this engine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You cannot go down in size. You can rebuild the turbo, but it will still be 60 trim. I wouldn't ever advise rebuilding your own turbo because they are very precise units, and spin at very high rpm's.

also is it 60 trim or 60-1?

I would find somebody willing to trade you for a stock turbo plus like $100 and send in the stock to be upgraded. Or you can sell that one, even though it has play, and put the money towards an upgrade. I say all this because I don't think they will credit you the core charge for sending in a 60 trim.

57 trim upgrade is widely accepted as the best reliable CT26 upgrade. You should verify what you have. Maybe it's worth it for someone to rebuild and get the upgrade that they want. Some people do want th e biggest compressor wheel that they can put in the housing.

I would get in touch with spoolinturbo. He's a dealer for comp turbos. I got my 57 from there and its worked flawlessly every since I got it and I payed a resonible price and you dont need a core.

A 57 trim is the way to go for dependablility and fun. It spools quick and hard. I just got mine about 3 weeks ago.

Is that picture you posted the turbo that's on your car now? It looks like a 57 trim to me. You wouldn't see a bore line in a 60 trim.

Can anyone confirm this for him?
