ok so my car been sitting in the garage for the last month or so. Havn't really decide what to do with the rod knock. I'd rather just sell it for money and take my losses on all the parts on the car But looks like no one wants to come drag it out of my garage. So probaly have to rebuild the 7m this spring. How much of a ballpark price am I looking at(im canadian too). What all would be need to done to fix a rod knock?? car just had the whole top end done last year(new head, arp head bolts, all new gaskets and seals, new timing belt). Im assuming I can't reuse the hg but Could now probaly go with a mhg this time around. I have heard u can reuse arp headbolts but probaly just buy new ones to be on the safe side. Also would it be a good idea to re-do the pistions and rings or is that just overkill?? what about boring the engine out or that rediculs expensive?? any suggestions as to what to do guys?

I'm not sure what your power goals are and your budget, but if you don't want to spend much cash I would just go buy a used JDM 7M-GTE and slap on a stock HG with the arps. You mentioned that you have a new head, I would slap that on top of the JDM engine. A whole JDM motor sells in Toronto Ontario for around $800 CAD, which is a pretty good price. Before buying it, make sure you check the oil for any coolant in it and try and do an on the spot compression test.

The only reason I would not rebuild the motor is because it will probably cost you more to rebuild it than to just buy a used good condition engine... you take the chance of buying a used engine in hopes that it will last you. Another reason is that it seems hard to get someone skilled enough to rebuild the motor RIGHT and it appears that many people are experiencing knock lately right after they rebuilt it... I was quoted $1200CAD for the bottom block alone, which included new rings/seals/oil pump (Basically a stock rebuild).

You can re-use the stock ARP studs... I got mined used and installed them with an OEM HG, which is good for me, under 350HP.

well it has to come off if the block comes out. I don't know about reinstalling it again. I personally would just get a new belt.
