Well, I bought a second supra to replace my dd. Bought it with a bhg. It ended up being worse then I thought. Milky oil and what not.. anyways. Finally got around to pulling the engine was hoping for a quick hg fix. Pulled the engine to repaint the engine bay so decided to go ahead and pull a rod cap to see if the bearings were f'd.. pulled the oil pan, shavings on the pickup. Pulled the #6 rod cap, wasnt' horrible but deff worn some (obviously not the worse since the bearing wasn't flaking off). So now the cheap dd has become no longer cheap. at least bearings. Was going to eventually (after I payed off some bills, saved some money) do a 1jz swap and give the 7m to my brother to swap into his truck. But dont have the money for a 1jz swap at this time. I originally bought the car to drive for a little bit fix up (new interior, paint) then sell and make some profit. Then using that as a downpayment on a newer car (has changed from mkiv to STi, to new IS350 to older IS300 etc). Do a 1jz the car now and go further into debt (i really dont want), sell the car, sell the parts I have for it (mkiv wheels and what not) and get something else (been itching to do a honda project... good gas.. decently quick). So not sure what to do? Keep in mind, its a temporary car while I do a few things to my other supra and a down payment for a newer car.
Wow, thats kidn of long..
so heres the cliffs
Bought a supra for a dd, turned out a little worse then expected. Do I spend the extra cash (when I'm sort of strapped right now) for a 1jz swap now or abandon the project and get something a little better on gas, and probably cheaper the build in the long run (money invested vs returned once sold).
