Hey, been working on an 87 NA Supra for a few years now and have come to a point of getting rid of it. Had a diagnostic done at a shop and it needs a new tank, fuel pump, and fuel filter. I've done so much to this car but need to get rid of it somehow and get a little bit of $$$ for it. Should I part it out, sell whole? Suggestions? Thoughts? Thanks a lot!

Actually.. without photos, its hard to say. If the body is solid (rear quarters not rusting out, wheel wells intact, etc.. ) its a good candidate for a 1j or 2j swap.. but probably not for you because your getting tired of dumping money into it.

I would say part it out if you got the time and sell the shell. NA's are not fabulous movers for the younger crowd because they want the "bling" of the Turbo... however, not many of them have the $$ or skills to do the swap. If you find someone who is familiar with and loves the car, your set.. however.. it can be a waiting game.

2 things kill you when it comes to selling these cars (that I have noticed). 1 = crappy photos.. people lose interest quickly... and 2 = crappy description/records of the car. I have never had a Supra (NA or Turbo) for sale longer than 3 weeks because I used a fair pricing, good description and a ton of photos. The buyers have other cars to look at... so you have to grab them.

Very hard to give an opinion without knowing the whole story of the car and current condition.

For an 87 you'd prolly make more selling it whole and running.

A good used tank pump and Filter could be had for like 100-150. It's not like that is much.

Exactly. I actually have a stock turbo pump, that is in great condition and only 80 thousand miles. Let me know if you would like to take it off my hands for a reasonable price. No rust on it, and the inlet still has a perfect in tank filter or whatever they are called.

The reason these can come at such low prices, is because people like me have needed parts, and bought a parts car and parted it out when done with it. Then we have a bunch of excess parts. Or the fuel pump deal is people upgrade to the walbro, and they still have a good working pump, but no need for it.
