What size exhaust pipe should I use ?????

I just picked up a 86.5 NA and from the cat back the exhaust it wasted I'm going mon to my exhaust guy to have full cat back put on the car my question is what size pipe should I go with I was thinking 2 or 2 1/4 I've lost torque on na cars by putting on huge pipe before so what's the best size for deep sound but don't lose any low end power....thanks

definately don't want to go overboard on the sizing for a N/A. a 2.25 should work nicely.
but for bigger hp go turbo w/ a 3 incher

As far as sound goes, the muffler you use will make a big difference as to what your car will sound like.

Ran a 2.5" on my car when it was NA and it took me ages to find a combination of mufflers that worked and didn't drone at highway speeds!

Adding a Turbo knocks off a LOT of the higher frequency sounds as they're a pretty good muffler on their own!

I already have a turbo supra this is my stock na that is for daily driving

Understood was just offering up a reason why the GTE cars can run 3" and up without pissing their owners off

i have 2.5in piping with a stockish muffler with no markings and im loving the sound. then again anything is more bearable than having the exhaust system end after a hollow cat...
