What makes my car do this.

Seems that every supra ive driven has done this. When i let off the gas and then give it gas while the car is in gear is will sometime jerk, not a huge jerk but its definetly annoying. Also seems to be worse at below 3k. I am thinking rear end looseness?

Are you talking about the 5-speed Supras or the automatics or both?

5 spd, someone with a higher mileage chassis should be able to relate.

thats pretty much normal in any manual car regardless of mileage

If it's worse than normal, it's usually a TPS adjustment issue with fuel cutoff not happening correctly.

it's called response and it's something you WANT usually...

you can adjust the dashpot to help remove a little bit of that harsh jerk when letting off the gas...

Na, its not just the put it in first, let off and back on and its jerky kind of thing. Its in all gears. Its definetly not a normal thing, my celica doesn't do it, my buddy's s-10 doesn't do it. I'm going to make a vid if i can do demonstrate. Also going to play around with my TPS and shananigans.

That first gear thing sucks, for others it seems, that I can't drive But it's like tranny and differential thing? And IIRC I get this in other gears too, though yeah my differential clunks(is probably baaaad)...

Sticky TB maybe? Otherwise I'd be underneath looking for bad mounts.

I'd definitely check the differential. One Supra we worked on bucked like a bronco till the diff was changed out.

OMG... my 86.5 has done it since i bought it... but my 87 didnt do it at all. my 86.5 does it while im at a good speed on the freeway... then i have to slow down cuz some jerk decides to change lanes in front of me... i let off the gas and i get a little jerk...

i have only ever experienced this in my supra....

i dont think its 'normal'.... when i had my 88 back in 1991 it never did it...

That's what I'm thinking, and I have a overhauled, almost ''like new'' diff coming in:naughty:

Well its not fatal, but it's almost normal Mine does that too, and most RWD cars have this problem. There's nothing bad with it untill it's too much

How do you reduce the 'too much'....? cuz it bugs me... and worries me...

My AT does this...i was told to change my tranny mounts.

mounts, center driveshaft bearing, diff, or u-joints...

all of them could cause it, get under the car and find out...
