I've got this Kenwood but the 800watt model

It's a few years old but it's very reliable, I'm running two 10" 400watt each MTX's. My friend also has the same amp powering his JL W7 and it sets off car alarms when driving through parking lots.

Get a good amp that is 2 ohm stable and and wire the subs up to run at 2 ohms. I would recomend MTX, Alpine, or Kenwood. There are so many amps out anymore though, I do know what the latest and greatest are. BTW 2 10" subs in a hatch will be plenty loud.

Never been much of a kenwood fan. Had a friend give me his 1200 watt kenwood amp after he lost my 360 watt kicker. Needless to say the kenwood has no backbone. the power feels weak and it can lose control of the speaker easily on sustained bass notes. plus it doesn't scale well. As in you can't load up the ohms with speakers, the amp will just quit. It couldn't hold a candle to my kicker. Bottom line is that kenwood make good amps for components but can't take the heat when you try to power subs. they can do it but the quality isn't there.

Those Bostons are great subs for sound quality. Give them a good quality amp. JL or Alpine would do nicely. The JL will give you better power, and the alpine will give you better sound quality, but both will do a good job with those subs. Rocksford and kicker are more for the raw power hungry subs.

This amp would complement those subs very nicely, just make sure they have a good box, preferably sealed, it provides the best sound quality.

Naw the rocksford will be fine. The sound quality won't be as high, but you woun't have any problems running both subs on the one you picked.

P.S.

I think you will be very happy with that amp sub combo. Just make sure you get a good box. A poor quality box can make even the best sound system sound like crap. I can't stress this enough. Most people don't realize how important a good box is.

I worked in car stereo for 4 years. If your working on a budget, kenwood and rockford fosgate have the best amps power for the money. I lean towards Kenwood because of there CD players. rockford is really more of a sub company than amps, but they have recently come out with some decent amps. I finaly gave in and bought my first alpine components a month ago, all I can say is i'm very disappointed. They cost way to much for the performance.

My system that I run:
Head unt: Eclipse
Amps: xtant
Heigh end: MB Quart
Subs: Alumapro

Yes, that kit has everything you need to hook up an amp with ONE exception - you'll still need a good set of RCA cables to run the signal from the deck to the amp.

PS: A little more detail on amps. Some old amps that are still awesome and can be had on Ebay every now and again... HiFonics series VII or VIII, Orion HCCA series, and the Kenwood 723, 823, or 923.
