What is this vacuum thinga majiger?

Ok i was looking over some things on my mkiii today and found this vacuum thing, is looks like a check valve or diaphragm of some type. it connects to my throttle body and one of the nipples are broke off and i cant find the hose that goes to it. i cant find wat it is on the vacuum diagram ether. any help?

dashpot. It slightly pushes up on the throttle linkage so when you let off the rpms come down smoothly.

There is no vacuum line. There is that little filter thing and then a piece of vacuum hose attaches it to the little diaphragm on the throttle linkage.
