What is the rotor thing on the passenger side cam?

Ok I dont have a camera available right now, but just out of curiousity was is the thing that plug into the passenger side of the head, and has a rotor that meshes with the cam? What does it need to be set at? I noticed its slightly ajustable.

umm looking at your sig you have a turbo...which would make that your CPS=cam position sensor.

Thanks guys, so I need to set it around so that the crank is at 10 degree while on a timing light?

With Te1 and E1 connected in the diagnostic port, yes. With them disconnected, it should be over 12 degrees if memory serves.

Stupid question: With it unpluged how would I know what the timing is?

Well, you set the base timing with the diagnostic port and then you unplug it to check to make sure it jumps 12 or above, IIRC...
