Hey guys I'm running 11 psi on my stock CT-26. Am I still alright using regular 82 octane, or do I need to run higher octane? I don't wanna damage my engine, but I also don't wanna spend my entire paycheck on gas. Thanks for the help.

Right in the manual even it says to not run anything lower then 87 octane fuel. Hope you didn't cause any problems by running that 82...

i ran 87 in one of my supras at 12 psi with no problems yet.but it is better to run a higher octane just to be on the safe side.i can say i have never seen anything lower than 87, even in clorado.

I lived in the north west corner, middle of absolutely nowhere. And the gas stations there were cheap ass bastards. They got this stuff from over in Wyoming. Native oil I guess. Horrible stuff. Smelled really bad and would on occasion have water in it.

Haha, ok so it is 87, I haven't driven in a while so I don't remember. I'll go with 91 or 92 then. Thanks for the tip, and sorry about the confusion.

In higher altitudes the octane is lower.. in the Boulder/Denver area I can only recall one place with 93 octane and that's near a drag strip. For the most part we only have 85, 87 or 91. 85 works for the Xterra, but 91 is the lowest I'll put in the Supra, which in my situation is the highest I can get.

I only run 94 octane, here in Canada its 87 the lowest, if i give anytihng under 94 it gives me the 52 code, like it just did yesterday...damn that 94 oct is at 1$ a litre..fuck

Only way to keep 52 away

the higher the better.

thats a common misconception. actually, you want to run the lowest octane fuel that you can, without pinging. lower octane fuel burns faster than high octane, therefore you could technically lose a bit of power (probably not all that noticable) by running higher octane when you dont need it.

that being said, the more boost you push, you should, in proportion of course, raise the octane of the fuel to compensate, especially if you're advancing the timing.

also, just for the record, i run 93 octane, always. better safe (and losing a little power) than sorry...
