What do you really damage? (Towing dolly, RWD, DS connected.)

I was considering towing my supra to the dyno with a tow dolly... however it seems you need to detach the driveshaft.

Why exactly can't I just put it in neutral, and "drag" it... ?

Is it an auto? It depends how many miles you plan on towing it, if it is? You could always start the car and let it idle on the tow there. So the tranny would have fluid pumping through it.. When I drove a wrecker, I would always get the drive wheels off the ground, if I was towing it more than a mile. That was our policy anyways..

If it's a stick, no problems...

There is no reason that I can think of why you would need to? Maybe if it was an all wheel drive, but not on a supra? It's just my oppinion though..:)

Autos have to have the DS detached because you'll burn up the rear clutch pack and gears without the front pump moving fluid.

A manual trans such as the r154 doesn't have a pump inside of it. It works off of splash lubrication.

Don't worry about it and tow away!
