Some time ago, IJ posted a picture of his new Auusie Hot Climate GTE fan, which at the time I thought would be a great idea. One recently came up for sale on Ebay, and I was considering bidding on it... then I decided to check mine first, and I already have it!

So now I am wondering which is more common. Which one do you have? The regular 7 blade fan is on the left, the hot climate 10 blade fan is on the right.

if your car has a build date of 5/89' or higher it's considered a 90'. they added the round fluid filled mounts and new crossmember to hold them.

my guess is they upgraded the fan at the same time.

No, it's 9/89 to 8/90 that is 1990 models, the new crossmember came on 89 models built after 1/89.

As far as the fans go... there are 2 fans for the Supra: 7M-GE and 7M-GTE. From the factory all 7M-GE's had 7-blade fans, and all 7M-GTE's had 10-blade fans.

If you have a Turbo, I strongly recommend keeping the 10-blade, or getting an original fan if you had a 7-blade. The 7-blade is about $35 USD cheaper than the 10, which is probably why a lot of people have replaced it with that one.

I have a nice new 10-blade Turbo fan sitting here right now. :) I ran a 7-blade for half of this summer after I busted one of the blades while working on my car.

i remember reading somewhere on the net that the new crossmember came on cars built after 5/89". my old 89' -- which had a build date of 5/89" -- didn't have the correct crossmember for the 1j swap i was contemplating five years ago with the 1j i had. i'm not going to get in a argument with you though, so who knows.

I can't remember how many my 89 n/a came with, cause I run electric now ! Clean bay, no loud noise when a clutch locks up, cheaper, no heating issues.
