I'm not too fond of either really.
When it comes to personality, I won't judge someone by what they drive, but I'm assuming that you are referring to how they either come across or act while IN their car? Mustang owners are TERRIBLE at being ricers...and well, Honda's...Damn. That's just a really close call.

Since you say owners, I'll say Civic. Most of the Civic owners I've talked to around here don't know anything about their cars. They don't maintain them, and they spew nasty Honda forum propaganda!! They modify their cars but don't really know why they're doing what they're doing and often do it the Johnny Cheap-o way. One guy said this to me...

Civic owners, well some Civic owners. I have alot of friend who are Mustang owners. I always hear about Stang owners being jackasses but I've never met one of them, and I've met a few jackasses who drice Civics.
I would have to go with civic owners. I know quite a few people who drive fast hondas, but there are a lot more people who have intake and exhaust on their honda and think it's a race car. Also, I have never really met an idiot mustang owner. I know there are a lot out there, but all my friends who drive mustangs are very knowledgeable about cars.

I'm gonna go with civic owners, they are arrogant, ignorant and usually try to start crap with everyone they see. Lets face it a civic is rarely capable of much more than a 13 sec pass, and thats with a swap to an integra engine or buyng a turbo or supercharger kit. The fast civics that do exist are far from street legal, they are stripped down, no emissions, slicks, and so modded that the driveability is gone.
Say what you will about mustangs, as domestics go I prefer TA's, and camaros but the mustang is a potent pack if tuned right and a lot of thier owners are just into them llike we are into supra's they may diss on imports or supras but most of them know enough to respect cars that are fast. They also can run 10 sec times and still be daily driveable unlike the small winky syndrome civic owners who have to make up for a POS 1.6 or 1.8 liter crap NA motor with a big mouth.

BTW all the mustang owners I met who are jerks were either jerks before or they drive 6 cylinders. There was a dumb jerk here had a auto 6 cylinder 96 stang, had intake, headers, exhaust, some chip for it, and a dry shot of nitrous. He tried to race me several times but on the way to the spot he'd waste his nitrous then back out saying I have a turbo its not fair, I was stock at the time except a k&n fipk so facotry boost is like 5.5 psi how is that not fair. hes now into trucks and ATV's as he was laughed out of cars. He blew his head gasket and blew 3 plugs on a 50 shot so the moron rebuilt using oem parts and added a 150 shot and blew the motor to the point there was antifreeze, oil, pieces of metal and parts of the connecting rods all over the street, also blew the tranny too but he didn't notice since the engine made such noise and smoke.
Although I hate mustang owners because all the ones I know are jackasses. Especially the guy down the street with a Cobra engine in his base model. But I hate most civic drivers more because of their shear win-all ignorance. They are just ignorant to the point of stupidity.
My friends got 4 5.0Mustangs, he's pretty cool.
But I also know a few kids around here who are high and mighty on their 4.6's but they were jerks before they had a mustang like Will said.

yeah it really depends on the people. some are dicks no matter what car they have. and yeah mustang owners are usually pretty good and aren't jerks they know what they have and they also know what a supra is. the civic owners are just idiots. "i have and intake and a tip, i'm unstoppable " says civic owner to turbo supra owner moments before being walked on by said turbo supra
Civics's, why hate women? Mustang owners, more of a split. The most crosses all ethnic, gender, and age lines, so there is no "Mustang owner" group.
