I got a pretty nice set of stock leather seatcovers and I wanted to clean them up and treat them. I already used "Adam's" leather conditioner on them but they came out really blotchy and light/dark in some areas (they are black btw). I'm sure that's because the previous owner probably used an off the shelf auto parts store conditioner.

Soooo, my dilemna is that now I have to clean all the conditioner off/out of them and re-treat them. So what should I use to clean them. A friend of mine suggested a very mild solution of Simple Green and water, dry them and re-condition them.

Any ideas??? I don't want to f*** them up.

Been using Mothers on the Piggy for 10years and my leather looks brand new so can't be that bad. I tried that Lexol stuff...damn that crap is horrible...not sure why people like it so much.

Bonus: the Mothers Conditioner smells awesome!!!

I started using a 3M treatment I bought at Walmart that's meant for use on leather seats in boats. It's highly UV resistant, and I thought if it can help on seats that sit day after day in the unshaded sun with water getting splashed or rained on it, then it's got to work for the leather in my targa. I've been pretty happy with the results.

My Soup is cloth but my other car is Connelly leather from England. Some of the finest made. Rolls Royce uses Connelly. Zaino's Leather Cleaner followed their Leather In a Bottle has kept it like new. Smells wonderful too. Connelly Hide Feed is also pretty good. Most off the shelf auto store stuff is petroleum distillate filled crap that does more harm than good over the long term. If your leather is in poor condition Leatherique products work well for restoration. Their website also has lots of info on leather and it's proper care.

As in what JJ has stated,my cars leather is 7 years old. It is ivory in color. Zaino #10 leather in a bottle and leatherique pristene clean and leather rejuvenator has kept it new looking and clean, as in no cracking what-so-ever. I also use the zaino on the plastic/vinyl surfaces. You will get varied opinions on this. There is no best, but there are products that are better than others. If you google this you will find that everyone selling leather products will swear that their's is the best.

I've had good results with GLIPTONE , in both my supra and my lexus . Smells very much like new leather . People always comment on it .

If your seats are dirty, or getting dried, this works the best.

Get some lemon Soft Scrub and scrub them with that, then wipe them really good with wet towels. Then come back with this stuff, they will look like new again. I always use this and they'll stay soft. Leather needs oils put back into it to keep it soft.

Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Spray.

i have the exact same spray, it gets all oily and feels very uncomfortable for about a week, then the leather feels and looks factory new. i have seen some leather conditioners that are similar to lotion, instead of spraying oil like substance onto your leather, you rub it on with a dry cloth and you dont get that oily feeling when you sit down.
