One thing I did a long time ago, I believe it was a SOGI mod, was I used bendable metal ducting to make an intake that went from the foglight hole, and connected to the little snorkel on the airbox. I used screendoor mesh to cover the ducting hole so no rocks or bad things went into it. I only drove for one day tho, because when I went on the highway I pushed it to 140 then my valvecover seals seemed to die and oil escaped and created a HUGE cloud, so I went to the garage and fixed them/remove my snorkel :biglaugh: . I took that as a sign and never re-installed it.

was it raining that day? any puddles on the road? water in the intake is about the worst and most common thing possible, especially in the case such as yours.

Yeh water in the intake it bad. My friend was at the carwash the other day and he decided to de grease his civic engine. He covered the Intake filter well but (i wasnt watching for the next part) when he washed it i guess he didnt cover his little filters on his PCV. (His civic's really rice but he does bodywork for a living) Well needless to say, when we left the car wash i was following him and noticed that he was speeding off like normal. When i stoped at the light he was behind, but i saw him rolling around me (normally hed speed around me) Then I saw my other friend out of the car pushing off the road. LMAO. His car stalled hardcore (its an auto to) :3d_frown:

Short story shorter, water in intake is bad.

I was wondering if the SOGI fresh air thing would cause something like that, sucking up things you dont want in your intake.

I ran a flexable metal pipe from the front Right fog light area to the air box of my 84 5M when it was stock(esk). Worked out really well. I noticed I picked up a lot more bugs during air filter changes. lol. Unless you actually go through a deep puddle and submerdge the duct you'll be fine. My duct wasn't "sealed" into the air box. I had a Cone hooked to the MAF and just got the duct close to the end of the KN cone. SO it could get fresh air when moving. Good mod for $5 on a stock car.
