i was told that i needed
1. turbo wiring harness and ECU
2. oil cooler with lines
3. IC with hoses
4. the DS(Driveshaft)
5. rear differential gears and LSD if you have the cash
6. ignitor
7. R-154 transmission (if it's a manual)

do i need all of these, if not which ones are necessary?
Thanks

I just did a swap. I have both a 1989 turbo and 1989 N/A so I had all the parts.

A 89+ 7mgte in to a 89 N/A car.

I swapped the following in to an N/A:

7mgte
R154
Turbo ECU
clutch slave cylinder
Intercooler
Driveshaft

I did not swap over the differential, though perhaps one day I will. So as of now I am using a N/A Diff which has LSD (my N/A came with the sport package), so got lucky with that one.

Other than that, that was pretty much it.

Are you doing a swap like what I did, or a conversion to a gte?

Oh and plenty of fresh bolts/nuts.

I made a topic about the fuel pump, if they are compatible, and people said they are, so that’s cool to use, though an upgraded one is probably the best way to go.

Hope that helps.

Oh you dotn need to use the r154, the w58 will do the job , and bolt up just fine, but change clutch and what not. It will work fine for stock HP up to 300 for sure.
Peace……….

well right off the bat... you will not need
#4,5, and 7

I say this for a w58 will withstand a GTE stock and a lil beyond. You dont need need a different driveshaft as long as you arent changing the transmission. You also do not have to change out the rear end, basically it will end up just giving you more lower end.
