I own a 89 7mgte Mk3... Right now it's just a point a to point b car but I want to learn as much as I can so I wont have to take it anywhere (its been in and out of the same shop for a few months) I'm also not very familiar with turboed cars neither. So could anyone give me a quick lo-down on what to expect? ex stock or max psi on stock turbo, just little things like that could help alot.

I guess I will be the first to welcome you in and also remind you that the "SEARCH" tab should always be your first choice. If you can not find the info there, then post a question.

Specifically look at the Stickys first. Then search then ask.

You will find that the experts on here are some of the best, but your question needs more info. Miles on car. Work already done. Amount of time and money you are willing to invest, both should have high numbers depending on your goal.

Expect to do alot of research, work, and spend a shitload of money.

+1

My first 'I want to learn how to work on cars' car was my 95 Celica about 10 years ago (can't believe I've had the Supra 5 years now). It didn't break much and was a lot newer than the Supra (4 years old when I got it). MK3 Supras are a bit older and therefore can be a bit of a pain. Lots of little maintenance issues are always popping up.

If you're new to working on cars, start small and work your way up. Start with something simple like replacing some of the old vacuum hoses to help familiarize you with the engine bay of the Supra.

With a little elbow grease and a little experience, you'll be doing 90% of the work yourself in no time.

Thanks for the welcome! Ive been using the search and looking up stickies i just posted this to get as much info on mk3s as possible. ha yeh I kinda dug myself into hole with this car...but Ive been working on cars,(not just mine) since I had got my license so about 3 years, just never supras. I've either worked on mustangs or my friends honda. I've had the top half of this 7m apart maybe 3 or 4 times just trying to figure things out. But yeh I got what i expected, Supras aren't the most maintenance free cars in the world but I'm willing to learn...
