I have tried about everything I know to do to get my cams right. I degreed them today and I undoubtedly did something wrong. I watched the tuner video ten times and did it exactly like he did. My cam card said -1 on intake and -9 on the exhaust side. I put the car back together and it wouldn't crank and stay running. It would eventually crank, but wouldn't idle. I ended up putting them back about like they were. I have the exhaust advanced 8degrees and the intake retarded four degrees. I was just wondering if any of you with adjustable cams would mind posting what yours is set at. I know they're all different, but I'm just curious.

I also did a compression test before I moved the cams back to where the car would stay running and it was only at 120psi. I know the car wasn't at operating temperature but I was just curious. Every other 1j that I see has around 175psi. I did another compression test at operating temps with the cams where there at now, and I got 130psi.............I don't know if my low compression is all because of my cams not being dialed in or if it has something to do with my head work also. Maybe a combination of both. Please help me out if you can. Thanks, Jay

Edit: I forgot to mention for those that don't know. I have the 272 small core cams and not stock.

damn sorry to hear you are having such rough luck with it.

one positive thing tho, atleast you know for sure now the cam position is effecting the compression.

just curious, what is your vac at warm idle?

one other thought- did you check ign timing after you degree'd them? anytime you move the exh cam you need to recheck and often have to reset timing.
