had them on front & back on my 87. looked very factory to me. destroyed once my wheels started rubbing.

in fact, it looked weird without it. the fender was shaped to them.

I forgot, my 88 had them factory and they are held on by what looks like double sided tape. My 87 parts car had metal ones held on by small screws.

Mine has them on the top of the wheel arches. They came with the car so not sure if they are factory or not. They do go well though.

Optional way back when. I don't like them as they trapped dirt and salt and created rust over time.

Exactly, this is why I don't like those leather/vinyl car bras that people put on the front of their cars. Sand and stuff gets stuck under them and it does more damage to the paint then without one.

My 87 has the door guards, and I had no idea they put them on the arches as well. Also I do agree with the dirt comment, because my car had one of them missing and the paint under there was all chipped up and looked like someone took sandpaper to the edge of the door.
