were is the best place to put a bung in the exhaust to hook up an innovate LM-1. elbow? downpipe? were do u guys suggest?

In the test pipe. There is a body plug just to the rear on the passenger side drive shaft tunnel that will allow you to run the cable inside the car. My LC1 is inside the car under the passengers seat carpet. Innovate says the LC1 is sealed from the elements but it worked out perfect to place it in the car and isolate from any moisture or excessive heat.

The best place for a happy medium of life and accurate readings would be at the bend in the pipe where its near vertical more towards the bottom. That is where i would recommend. I put mine at the very begining of the horizontal part of the dp.

If you have the wideband installed close to/on the elbow you will be buying another one soon enough ;). They can't handle the extreme heat from that spot like a stock o2 can. You don't necessarily have to put it all the way down by the test pipe, but anywhere in between the last two posts positions are a great place to do it ;).

Most of you - shoosh if you don't know. Serious. Don't give advice if you don't know WTF you are talking about.

Any wideband should be no closer than 6" in distance to the turbo exhaust. Even then, most mfg's suggest 24" away from the turbo exit. This is due to the possible extreme heat - it will litterally cook the o2 sensor.

A couple people said it - the test pipe - is a great location for the o2 sensor.

Readings will be good, and its in a "cool" environment. You need only to worry about it being kicked by road debris (rock, speedbump etc)

I knew it was supposed to be at least 6"... not sure why randy put's his bungs so close to the stock O2 sensor!

A plug and a bung in the test pipe sounds like a easy fix though!
Anyone know the threadsize / pitch?

A friend I met at a supra meet told me this (he actually put his on the test pipe too). The reason I said anywhere in between the positions of the last two ppls post is becaust the other position is around 12" away from the test pipe, and well over 24" away from the turbo ;). The test pipe would be the best bet though becaust it's easy to get off and work on if needed.

Bingo! One of the main reasons I put mine in the test pipe. When the time comes to do a free air calibration, it's much easier to get to. The bung is at the 3 o'clock position and tucked up close to the body, so the unibody would hit a speed bump before the sensor would take a hit. I was really pleased at how clean the installation looked in this location as well - almost looks like it came that way from the factory.

ding ding ding. Although many seem to claim that 14 inches away is good enough.
