Well my new bike just got impounded....

some cop just pulled me over looked at my vin plate and claims he thinks the bike was stolen. he says the vin plate looks modified, so they decided to take my bike. Im so fuckin pissed. I just got the bike and was on my way to the DMV to get it registered in my name. I have insurance and a licence so im not worried about that.

this fuckin ruins my day. the vin didnt look modified to me. the vin area is smooth and the frame is rough cast so he says its modified.

WTF?! Damn man that sucks. I was on my way to the DMV in the supra with all my papers in hand to get it registered, and the cop pulled me over 1 block from the DMV for expired tags. The DMV was the ONLY building in the area other than storage buildings.

Do you know when you'll get the bike back? can they fine you anything for their fuckup?

I would have considered it, but I was really close to my work (within 1/2 a mile) and I was on my way to the DMV to get it registered. I already printed out the craigslist add for the bike and everything incase this thing turns out to be a big deal. I really hope this turns out to be some lame cop's mistake.

The vin really didnt look modified to me, and had the orginal sticker on the frame where the vin number matched. I really hope this is a dumb cop, and not actualy some sketchy shit.

no didnt look scarred at all! it really looks like a vin should, all the numbers are straight and stamped evenly. he says it's a good job.

LOL, yea he prolly was showing off in front of the rookie. no one will go that far out of their way to steal a bike and resell for so little profit.
If your going to do so much crap, they would do it with a high priced car.

Yea I hope so. i would be really supprised cause if he did steal it, he would have to steal the sticker (which looked perfect (lightly worn like a year 2000 bike should be. wasnt peeling up at all and in the right place) and steal the plates which matched the vin. You would also think if it was stolen plates theyd at least steal ones that had current reg.

I hate to say it buy I am almost 99.9% sure you are going to pay the impound fines! You can try to get it back from the city but the amount of time it would consume would not make it worth while to get your money back.

that shit is happening down here ALOT lately 2 of our friends had the same thing happen to them 1 of them went to jail for like 2 hours they said the bikes were stolen they tryed it with my friends CBR that we just repainted but he carrys like every peice of paperwork ever on him under the rear seat.

That sucks man when you get it back and look it over good , I know when my friend got arrested and they impounded his bike that when it came back here from the impound it looked like it had been beat on really bad it had mud and shit all over it also had like 30 more miles on it. im not sayin this to bum you out im just sayin check it over good when you get it back.
