today, the car was smokign a bit like almost right about the exhaust manifold with a bit old oil. after we changed the oil, and the smoke disappeared? is his turbo bad? im confused as fuck because i thought for sure it was an exhaust leak but they should leak all the time regardless of oil right?. Car doesnt smoke or bur nany oil. oh and this car spit some coolant out right when we parked the car afer. came out of the overflow. i didnt notice because the car did not overheat at all today and it ran like a champ. Any ideas? we ordered a new thermostat for his car (and mine too :D) as well as a new rad cap and fresh coolant. i think a coolant lfush is needed (its a tad old) but any ideas if this coolant thing continues? I would not suspect BHG because it doesnt overheat at all.
EDIT: this was cryoslash, he left his supramania on.
well no point of leaving it all alone
IM GHEY!! OMGZ!

Easy to replace, and yes, it's a damn good idea. If it's leaking one way, chances are it's also leaking to the inside and filling up your spark plug valley.

Parts are ~$10 each side, and you have to pull the throttle cable assembly, coilpack cover, coils, and then the valve covers, replace the gaskets, and reassemble. Should take about 30 minutes.

Get real hex bolts for the valve covers while you are in there, the stock philips head bolts suck.

I've had this problem before and it's happening again.... 4th time and my seals keep blowin..

do you have to order the hex bolts from toyota? do they have to be torqued at a certain psi?

I got a set of hex bolts from Pep Boys (I believe they are M8-1.25mm) for about $8 total. TSRM specifies 25 in-lbs, so I torqued to 3 ft-lbs at the end of my first, and hopefully last, BHG project. BTW, my sparkplug valley was completely flooded with oil. Seems I had gasket problems all over the place.

Well, when you drive a Supra, and you are forced to fix things on the side of the road, in a parking lot, or in a parking lot in the pouring rain (happened to me today)...you tend to get to know the parts pretty well...! lol

rofl... I can fix them in about 15 minutes, actually. Helps when you walk to your bench, pick out all the wrenches you need, walk back to the car, and pull it all apart without having to think about it. :D

Also helps when all the nuts and bolts have been pulled recently - no stubborn fasteners to deal with, virtually everything on my engine is new.
