Whenever I start up my car, I've noticed that it will warm up slowly like normal, and it will go half way like usual. But as of late, it's done this, then goes down to where it reads a bit more than a 1/4, then it goes back up to normal. I've heard of the temp gauge going up, but never going down. What could this mean?

if your tstat is stuck open or not installed itll cool down real fast in colder weather. when you are in traffic you might see it stay at the normal mark, when you get up to speed again itll drop down to below normal.

So is this a bad thing?

I think the only bad thing is your heater will suck.

once its warmed up moretha na quarter of the way youll have heat..

i am not sure how true this is, but i have read that if the coolant isnt kept in the engine long enough itdosnt have enough time to take away heat, making your engine actually run hotter.

is this true? im not sure.
