Hey guys I acquired this ecu from Jag to use and when I went to plug it into my harness I came to discover it had two plugs that don’t look like they go to anything.

On the top side of the ecu it says A/T which means the ecu is made for an automatic but it was used in a 5spd car also I have never seen an automatic ecu like this, Mind you I have a 5spd wiring harness in my car from a JZA70 has anybody ever ran into an ecu like this before?

What are your thoughts on this any idea how to make it work with my harness or should I keep searching for a 5spd ecu?

Doubt it. fan connector shouldn't be coming off the ecu. I have no idea why there are two connectors. Normal ecu should just have one for the frying read.

Whether it's auto or 5spd is irrelevent IMO. The car will run without the flying lead. Maybe the 2nd connector is for some piggy back like an fcon or something. :dunno:

I believe that white connector is very similar, if not the same as that found on my HKS EVC1 or other HKS electronics. The black one is probably a different connector for the lead.

I'm interested to know too. That is my ecu off my car. Nick used it for Toyofest on his 2j and I was planning on running the same set up. It worked on both our cars and now Clint gets a hold of it, and it's not making sense. Help us out.

Post pics of the rest of the ECU.

Judging by the bottom of that pic, those are the wires that normally go to the flying lead. For some reason someone changed it to different connectors, probably what was available at the time.

The good news is that if I am right, you only need to use 2 of those wires. Blue and brown if I recall.

I'm with him. looks like a JZA70 ecu with the flying lead wires soldered to different connectors. the engine will run fine without them hooked up.

What do the flying leads do? But I am more at ease to know that I don’t half to use those wires in order to run the car.

This was answered already, the flying lead was cut off, and different connectors used to replace it. You just need to get the pinout for the flying lead and use new connectors that you can work with.

Has that happened with a car that you did Aaron?

I remember when my first swap was done, the flying lead connector was wrong. The car ran and idled fine.

:dunno:

What is it's purpose?

I actually remember your 1jz idling bad, and looking at your flying lead disconnected, then fixing the connections for you.
It contains two of the 4 wires going to the TPS.
The only other two wires used in the flying lead are for auto trans.
