I just got some water wetter for my car anybody ever use it? Good bad? The directions on the back got me confused. Do I do a norm 50/50 mix of water and coolant then water wetter?

It's Not Important Bro
It does not play well with Toyota Red.... If that is what you are using. I read this in tech technical section last year, I do not remember the particilars on it.

It's a surfactant. Surfactants work on water, not glycol, and its been known to slime up in a mix. Since it's made to run in straight water it has good anti-corrosion properties though. Not as good as new coolant but a quickie way to freshen the mix up until you get around to changing it.

^This... and in addition, if your cooling system is less than perfect, this will point out all your deficiencies... it will make small leaks big, and make small leaks where it wasn't quite leaking before. Sure shows you what all needs to be replaced in a hurry, though.

It is good for that.

OP: Fill a small bowl with water. Sprinkle pepper onto the surface. Add the smallest drop of water-wetter you can to the center of the bowl and watch what happens. Repeat with a 50/50 mix of water and coolant. Decide for yourself in which fluid the product works best...

i live in texas so coolant isnt really needed but for a few months a year. i run water wetter and distilled water every summer on my bike and the stuff works like it says.

i used it on my integra and never had a true temp gauge so i dont know how well it worked, but it did seem to do the trick. on my bike though, the gauge reads a solid 10* cooler than it did with just straight water.

since the label gave me the results for "pure water" were on par, i would only assume the same with a 50-50, or 25-75 mix scenario also. less coolant the better the stuff works.

i never really did much research on the stuff as far as compatability, but i never noticed any warning labels about types of coolant.

I apologize if this may be a LITTLE off topic, but I have to ask... Differences between Tap water or distilled water within the 50/50 mixture? I know tap water contains minerals etc that can "leave deposits" over time in the cooling system. Is it a preferred method for our cars (or any cars in general) to use distilled water with coolant?

You want to use distilled water and 50/50 mixture with any street car.

Most tracks want water only because coolant is hard to clean up. Thats where water wetter comes in.

Figured. Anything to keep the engine clean and healthy never hurts. Not a fan of the water wetter stuff, I just stick to 50/50 mixture, and our track here never hassles me about it.

Ya. Distilled water is like 1-3$ a gallon too. BEst to use toyota red coolant as well. The green stuff will corrode the cooling system and give you some rust.

Interesting... never knew the Toyota red is actually better than the green generic "Prestone" stuff most autoparts places sell.. Time for a trip to the dealership

water wetter is for use with just water. some tracks require only water in the rad so if you crash, you dont leave antifrezze anywhere, which is a enviro hazzard

lol i put this in my car few years ago and went to boston and after racing some kid, my head gasket blew, i had 50/50mix tho, and after looking at the headgasket, it was a small pin whole size that made a big damage, good thing i had AAA to tow it back

Hazard? Can anyone enlighten me? I was always under the impression that if you dilute it until you can't tell it's there, it's effectively *not* there. Am I mistaken?

As for distilled water, I curse ANYONE who runs tap water in a street car, it's just rude. You wouldn't believe how much rust there was through my ENTIRE cooling system of my 7m when I bought the car.

From memory distilled water is a very clean water compared to your tap water since all its impurites were removed. It's basicly collected from the steam produced from boiling the water. And doesn't conduct electricity as well compared to tap water.
