Question about impellers: For my rebuild I bought a new pump off ebay. My original impeller is stamped the new one is cast. Is there a difference in function or durability?

Do some indepent thinking. I do not know the answer. Is the cast heavier possibly? There is increased friction. Is the cast blade surface rougher? Increased friction, possibly less flow. Aside from that, if the dimensions are the same. Meaning, if it fits put it on. Someone designed that pump for the car, an engineer.

I too noticed my blades for the old and new pumps I had were different. If I recall correctly my old one was stamped and the new one was cast, so I guess it's just a luck of the draw for which one you get. if i recall correctly my cast one seemed to have ever-so-slightly bigger blades, but nothing worth noting. As stated before, as long as it fits it'll do just fine.

Just for reference, here's a pic of my old pump, taken off the engine that had 220,000km on it. I can't verify if this is the original pump, I doubt it, but you get the idea. It's stamped btw if ya can't tell.

independent thinking has gotten me into trouble with this car. That's why I come to this forum, to learn from those who know more than I do about the
7M. It's the best lesson so far, ASKING a question. As for someone designing it, someone designed this too, and cause I didn't ASK anyone about it I didn't know NOT to buy it for nearly a quarter the cost of my car
