The problem only seems to happen when the car is cool in the mornings. I have this sound of water flushing through from behind the dash. It happens for about 1 min or until I get moving. Possible air lock in heater core pipes? Air lock in cooling system? Help me figure this out.

hey i have that same problem. :wtf:
well had until a couple of days ago my car blew something from the back of the engine because now coolent leaks and i cant go for 5min before it red needles itself. but however it hasnt over heated yet, it just red needles.
so i have parked it and left it for this weekend to figure out whats wrong with it.
a friend of mine said it might either be the heater core or a 90 degree hose that has broke.

any ideas what might be wrong and what to look at or for before i dive in to it. :1zhelp:

I noticed that problem with my motor after I had it rebiult and put back in. Since then I've fixed the problem, which is pretty easy. Yes it is air in the lines. The best thing to do is jack up the front of your car(When its cold) start your car with the radiator cap off and allow it to run until warm. You'll get coolant overflow but that is going to be the air pockets that are coming out of your system. You jack the car up to get your radiator at the highest point. Air flows upwards, you'll want to run your car for around 10 min. or until there is no more air coming out. Hopefully this helps your problem. It did for me. Later-T

Yeah, just as I thought. Its quite strange how my temp gauge always seems to read 1/4, as if it has only warmed up half as what it should have. Maybe that cause I through in RedLine Water Wetter. Who Cares. Doesn't read high and I don't think it is a mechanical glich since my car runs perfect now. Except for that damn loud exhaust.

I did this as recommended and got alot of air flushed out. Now I still hear it but dont go past half on the temp gauge, so I'm guessing I still have a little bit in there. Also, I dont have a heater core, just a hole in the firewall, which may be why.

Yeah, it's a pain to get all of the air out.

You don't have a heater core but you still hear the gurgling in the dash? I'm pretty sure you have a heater core, unless someone went through the hassle of removing it. You also wouldn't hear the gurgling w/out a heater core.

ok just keeping you guys posted.
i took a look at my problem today and i may have air in there also, as well all hoses on the back of the engine were all back. i think there are 3 total is i saw right and each one some how at the same time blew a hole in it.
so i would check yall hoses out also just to make sure they arent going out.
you dont want this to happen trust me, its ugly!! :ugh:

Nope, there is flat out nothing connecting the two holes in teh firewall on the left and right sides of the engine where the heater core should be. My EGR stuff is gone too, really cleans up the engine bay
