I was driving, then a large truck passed me going the opposite direction. both of us going about 90km/h as soon as he was passing i heared a loud crack/pop sound i immediately thought.. FUCK the truck tossed up a large rock and hit my windshield cuz thats what it sounded like.. i inspect the windshield but no damage.. so i figure the rock hit my roof.. i pull over to inspect the damage.. turns out to be the windshield trim. lol

i tried to push it all back in... it did go back to place but it wouldnt "pop" or "click" in if you know what i mean..

the clips are still intact... but im afraid this would happen again.. because it doesnt seems so secure.. and i dont have $$ to buy a new set. i was thinking glue but.. that seems too permnent.

what do you guys suggest i do to help keep it on?

The moldings are cheap from Toyota.

That upper one is # 75531-14150 and should be around $35
The corner pieces come with the sides, the LH is # 75534-14140 and around $25
the RH is # 75533-14170 and around $25

the clips are available separately if you need those, the # is 75548-20060 and they're only about $1.50/ea

there is a champion toyota in canada that gives forum members awesome discounts dont forget!

too the op:

there is no way youll get that trim back in new or old...that trim is designed to be installed while the window glue is still wet and glues it in place....now that the polly is dry those clips wont go back in and snap onto the windshield...youll either have to carve out the glue in that area or have your windshield pulled and re glued back in with new trim!

i had a the same thing happen to me and i bought all new toyota trim and ofcourse it wouldnt go back in....it sucks really!

You could always go to a body/glass shop and have them install the newer style of window trim, and do away with the current style of trim completely. I'll be doing this when I repaint my car.

Here's some pics from this thread, to show you what it looks like.
