my N/A DD just got rod knock....out of nowhere lol
knocks clearly from 2500-4000RPM, and noise varies with how much throttle I give it. Goes away after 4000 and you can't hear it at idle. Pulled the plugs, noise went away on #6 cylinder. Pulled the codes, knock sensors.
What I can't figure out is how it happened...i guess the car doesn't like me. Oil pressure is in the green, just like it always has been, and I even checked the oil before the first startup I head it this morning (1/4" over full, i might add). Never really drove it (too) hard, and it's been perfectly reliable up to this point. I guess that gnome in my bottom end just decided he didn't like me and started swinging that hammer around!
just trying to lighten my mood, because I'm stuck out of a car until I can get my turbo one on the road, which is looking like late April. Now the question remains as to whether rebuild it, or part it out....it's got some good body damage on both the front and the rear, so I'm leaning towards parting it, but I'm still undecided.
at least now I know for sure the turbo one doesn't have it...and hopefully the gnome in that one has a better attitude towards me
