im not sure if this is the right place for this so if its not feel free to move it has anyone ever raced a newer celica gts 6spd? 1.8 4cyl vvtli if so how did you do my cousins friend has one and he claims that its completely stock running 235hp and 8.6 in the 1/8 i went to the toyo dealer and they said they are only 170hp and that hes full of it but i was just wondering about this figured i would ask. oh and is the vvtli the same as the supras vvti?

vvtli= Variable Valve Timing and Lift w/ intelligence

VVTi= Variable Valve Timing w/ intelligence

It changes how the engine breathes. Much like V-tec. The lift feature plays with the valves alittle more. You could go over to toyota.com and maybe find an explaination about the newer system (corolla, matrix, celica (cleared i believe)), but im not sure about the technicalities of the 2JZ VVTi system.

BTW the celica gt-s is like 190 bhp ?? maybe more like 180.

i thought the guy was full of crap according to the books at the toyota dealership the gts is supposed to be exactly 170hp but i know its not damn 235

Yeah i guess I was thinking of the 2ZZ tuned for the Elise... Thats got 190.

he tried to tell me it was the elise motor but in his celica i almost slapped him but thought nah he'll figure it out one day.

not that fast, had one trying to pass me on the highway and from a slow roll a few times and he just couldnt muster the speed.

When the engine reaches a certain speed, a solenoid blocks an oil passage, causing a rise in pressure. This pressure moves a rod that locks a rocker shaft into the other two. This locked rocker shaft is operating the valve. There is a third lobe on the journal. The extra rocker shaft just rolls up and down with it until it is locked in place.
