I have read the manual andit says to put it in the intake past the throttle body but the 7m instructions say to tap a hole in the piping right before the tb. I have the hole tapped in my intake that I could use for it but not sure if I should put it in the intake or the piping. What do you guys think that have used this set up?

it is also important that it is placed as not to get heat soaked. it will cause drivabilty problems i.e. engine dying or extremely low idle at stop lights.

on my 7m i had it in the 3000 pipe, and then wrapped with flame insulation.

on the mr2 turbo, heat soak was so bad, i had the sensor place at the outlet of the intercooler...

Mine was also set about 6 inches before the TB. Worked great for about 10 years. Hood was vented to heat buildup wasn't as much of a factor.

I used a plastic "spacer" for mine to assure no heat soaking.

Tap a 1/4" hole in the intake, get a 1/4" threaded plug, drill and tap a 1/8" hole (for the temp sensor) through the plug, screw the plug into the intake, and the temp sensor into the plug. MUCH better setup than they suggest.
