might be visiting there soon... i looking to relocate soon and springfield is one of my options. Michigan is not working out well at the moment. looking for a change

my main concerns:

how's the area and surrounding cities?
good place to raise family?
auto emissions?:biglaugh: :biglaugh:
housing cost?
jobs?
weather?
supra owners and meets?:biglaugh: :biglaugh:

if not springfield, what is a better place in MO.

your input would be great!

IMHO, St. Louis burbs would be where to go if you're seriously considering moving to MO. I use to live there and also just south of St. Louis too. However, it does have emissions check but some have gotten around it by registering the car in a emissions free county instead. Also, St. Louis is nice for traveling too if you want to be able to hit Chicago or Indie for the weekend, neither are a far drive are are straight shots from there. Lots of employment opportunity there too although MO unemployment is only slightly better than MI right now.

Cost of living is cheaper than Detroit but not by much. Good "cost of living" there are some nice calculators out there on real estate and moving pages that allow you to put in your current residence and pay and put in where you'd like to move and it'll spit out how much you should make there to be equal.

Weather is decent, short warm winters, very hot/humid summers (surprisingly humid seeing as there isn't large bodies of water around like here). Places close down at the slightest sign of snow/ice. Snow removal sucks down there.

I was just in Springfield over the weekend and have visited many times. It's a nice place. Some newer parts and some older parts but fairly nice. Plus St. Louis is only 2 hours away and KC not much further. I live in Cape Girardeau which is east of Springfield about 4 hours. It would be a good place for a Missoury meet besides STL.

Oh yea you got a big bass pro shop thats very nice, and if you do go there at least once eat at the lumberjack cafe or something like that. Its also known as the throw roll cafe I think, great food.

I live in o'fallon, about 2 hours from springfield. MO is kinda boring, but it depends on where you're at and how old you are. Being under 21=boringness. LOTS of bars around here. Good car shows at the Sonic off elm every now and then. Mostly lamers with stock SRT-4's and teh such that think they're the shit. My buddy's SVT focus has been known to take out a few supras though :p

i live there. great place to live..the car scene is good too.. there are a few turboed ls1's, an s10 blazer w/ a 6.0 and a single turbo setup.. lots of 11 sec and better cars.. right now i am the only one i know of in springfield who is into mk3's. there is one kid w/ one on wheels but that is about it.. um there are alot of mk4's in town. and almost all are fast.. on is 800+wheel and another is shooting for 8's. he hit 10.003 on his old setup.. um the schools ar good and the cost of living is fairly cheap.. my house i rent is 475 a month.. it is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 car garage..
pretty much to sum it up.. I love the town and prob wont move in my lifetime, unless i go to STL..
