anybody have any ?

an I dont mean the cheaper Japan made Epiphone Les Pauls that are more so mass produced/ assembly line made...

I was looking at this Wine red 1990 Gibson custom. it is going for 2500 but I just am having a hard time accepting a guitar with all kinds of dings an scratches for that kind of money., I think I'd rather spend the 3000 or so an buy one brand new an watch it mature in price as I know I would plan on taking much better care of it rather than someof these vintage ones that are all beat up....

~300 for a new one? More like a grand for a Gibson Les Paul Custom.

But, yeah... I like old guitars of you collect them. If you just have one old one then its kinda weak though. Buy one that matures with you. That way its more special.

I'm keeping my guitars for life. Even the crappy squire strat i learned on. Maybe my kids will play some riffs on it. :)

Very true. I was thinking of the studio. The customs are about 3 times as much.

Put it this way. Every Guitar that became famous for their sound were not stock electronics.
That's a big statement there! What about The Venture's surf sound with stock Jazzmasters, or BB King's ES? a few of Kurt Cobain's Mustangs, Jaguars and Mosrites were also stock. Then there's Hendrix, Clapton and others playing on stock Strats. If a guitar becomes famous it's a result of the person that played it - not so much for new pickups, hardware and paint..

person playing the guitar...

seen vids of guitarists sitting down to a random guitar and amp, strum it a few times, tinker with the controls, and start playing and sound like their own gear...

Vintage is anything for the 80's or before in my eyes, everything after is machine made crap...

Brands are just that, I know of a few brands that most of you've never heard of that will blow any of the bigger brands away...
