it only happens above 5000rpm ive only experanced it a couple of times its only in gear happens in all gears that ive been able to check (1st-3rd) i can free rev the motor and its smooth as silk i thought it might be motor mounts but those are ok and i thought it might be a u joint but that wouldnt go away when i shift and the rpms fall back down under 5k so anybody have any ideas? maybe a clutch or flywheel problem?

Any help ideas would be awesome the more stuff i check the more stuff i know isnt it.

Thanks,
Barry

oh and i forgot to mention it doesnt happen when i do a burnout either. (when im full on the brakes and gas im about 5500 rpm)

Carrier bearing might be messed up. Reach up under the car and grab the driveshaft, if you can move it up/down or left/right...then there's your problem. If you can slide it forward/backward then it's a u-joint

ill try that tomorrow when my aunt gets home with the car from work (its acting as the mule while her car is down) only thing that bothers me if it was somethin with the driveshaft why would it do it say when im doin a run in 1st above 5000 shift and then go into second and not do it again until 5000. or if i get on it in first do a run to 6k and then shift right into 3rd and it doesnt do it. it only does it above 5k i can cruise at 60 mph and it wont do it my aunt says its smooth as hell on I-75 at 90 mph

mine did it only between 75-80mph so between like 3.5k-4k RPMs and after tearing my driveshaft apart, this is what my carrier bearing looked like (new on left, old on right):

But it could be engine mounts, could be engine internals (crank unbalanced or something), could be driveshaft. Just so happens that the driveshaft is easy to check. But 5k RPM, haha you must be ridding it pretty hard :naughty:

yea like i said its only when i feel like i wanna opener up and i notice it i dont like 5k drive my car constantly after it did it about the 3rd time i stopped beating on the car and i havnt since.

i can free rev the motor and its smooth as silk not 1 thing that would make me think it was the internals. ive checked the motor mounts and they let the motor move some but not much they seem brand spanking new which wouldnt be a surprise as the motor was rebuilt a month before i bought it.

one thing i didnt check was the tranny mount i wonder if it would do that or if the carrier bearing decides when it has alot of TQ going to it than it wants to get all crazy.

right now it could be anything in my mind ill try the driveshaft thing and hope thats it so it gives me a reason to put a 1 peice in it :)

i checked the driveshaft today and it has NO play at all like 0 like none back and forth none side to side no twisting play nothin.

i think my motor mounts might acculty be causing it i pushed on the motor and it didnt feel like it moved at all but the whole car moved.

or i was thinking if our flywheels are weighted and if so could it have thrown off 1 of the weights?

EDIT if it was the flywheel id feel it when the motor was free revving so that rules out the flywheel.

maybe when the motor is under TQ on the mounts tranny and motor is when it happens.

oh fuck if i know :( i fail @ teh problem solving
