I just bought a 87 supra turbo a few months ago and drove it 8 hours home with no problem. After getting it home, I took it down the road went to hammer on it and it died. I got it to run again after having the timing belt fixed and replacing the bent cam gears. Motor still was ticking. I changed the oil and added some lucas oil hoping it would quiet it down. Drove the supra a few days with the tick and then it got really loud and I lost all power, I cannot even rev it up or anything without it being a complete dog. I am hoping that the rod is not twisted causing my valves and piston to connect. It is louder than any other noise I have ever heard from valves. The motor knocks from idle all the way up to 5,000 rpms. Please help me here, I am new to these motors, always been a V8 fan. Tried something new, not having a good experience. Also, guy I bought car from said the previous owner had motor rebuilt. Beginning to think it was BS. :1zhelp:
