Varsol to clean pistons? bad?

So i was trying to clean my pistons using varsol.

I didnt remove the rods..
Is it bad if i get varsol into the wrist pin area?

Just so I know, what's Varsol? Whats wrong with parts cleaner or hot tank for aluminum?

I believe Varsol is a heavy duty paint thinner, could it cause issues? No idea.
