Strange thing started happening to my 'Sup the other day,it would start and run,but then die.WTF?!?!?! It would do it over and over again,i'd have to hold the pedal down so it would stay at about 1,000 rpm,and then it would eventually quit! It is being parked in full sun here in Cali, and I leave it there for up to 8 hours. I'm going to start parking it in some shade to see if this cures the prob!

vapor lock is when your motor is shut off w/ a piston coming to rest at the very bottom of the compression stroke. The air charge then expands from the heat of the motor so greatly that the starter can't turn the motor over. It usually only happens to high compression motors with stock starters.

You're not suffering from vapor lock.

Check your coolant, and see if you can burp an air bubble out of it.

being low on coolant wouldnt make the car stall... you could run the car dry of coolant, and it would run great till you melt it. :)

Well, start with the obvious. Run your codes & repair as required. You can probably get your answer much quicker if you ask your ECU for its' opinion.

If the problem still persists, start replacing you vacuum lines (very cheap to do, but your car will thank you for it), check for tears in your accordian hose, ect.

Not true. My car was a little low on coolant and was stalling out on me when I stopped moving. After getting the coolant back to where it should be, I haven't had a problem yet.

That doesn't make any sense, it's like saying if you have a flat tire, your power mirrors won't work. :dunno:

Whether it makes sense or not, topping off my coolant level has fixed my problem.

The ECU has a temp sender high up in the tstat housing I guess if the coolant was low the ECU might think something is wrong and go into limp mode?

i dont think the ECU has a high temperature feature. i bet that Shawndude would know. i overheated my N/A once, and it was still running flawlessly, aside from the pegged temp. needle.

coincidence. odd? yes. was that the fix? i highly doubt it.

so in other words nocheez, it did not fix the problem. be glad it went away but dont be surprised if the problem returns. find the real cause of it next time.

It only happened on hot days, to the point where the car would not keep running after it was warm. It has not happened since, and it has been 95+ degrees outside. I don't think it was a coincidence.
