valve cover gaskets!

hi all!


i just replaced the gaskets on the valve covers and uhh... i remember reading somethin about people replacing the valve cover bolts with something else?? i might just be crazy...

well, if anyone could shine some light on this for me... i'd be much obliged :D

yeah we replace them with hex bolts. PM Stretch, he can hook you up with some canadian bolts :D

Yep. Get rid of the screws with the stupid little grommets, and put some real bolts on there. 6mm X 25mm IIRC.... and lock washers.

the reason they are just phillips screws is cuz they only need enough torque that you can tighten with your hand(i dont remember the number)..cuz i guess overtighting them would be really easy if they gave you the chance to use a socket wrench..and that would squish the gasket making that oil leak.

I think it was 24 IN./pounds.

I just reused the screws, no sense in getting a socket on there for 20-something inch pounds.
