I seen oil right under my left valve cover and it drips on to the exhaust manifold.Has anyone experianced this? I think it's loose I'll try to tighten it and hope it works. And if it doesnt does anyone know of a cheap replacement?

you can try tightening it. I would just go ahead and replace the valve cover seal. Its a cheap fix. Oil can ignite when it has been laying on the manifold while beating the car.

Yeah i would replace it.......Supras seem to have valve cover leaking problems it sucks but atleast it wasn't leaking into the spark plugs. You also get lots of good practice taking your car apart. You can also check the torque of the bolts every so often like when you do an oil change just make sure not to over torque them.

I've noticed even after replacing my valve cover gaskets multiple times and torquing them down to the right specs you still have to tighten them every once in a while... I tighten mine about once every week or so... just my 2 cents...

I believe I had a little of this issue as well - on the left side and it goes on exh manifold toward the front.

could this be a CPS o-ring?

would the cps o-ring leak noticeably?

Yes I replaced mine and I no longer smell burning oil and my exhaust manifold heat shield is no longer coated in oil. Its a small thing but can leak profusley.sp*

Like 10 dollars from a dealer. You will need to know how to set the timing if you replace this part tho. So you'll need a timing light, know how to set the #1 piston to TDC, and jump the T and e1 terminals on the diagnostic box.

$10 for an O ring? You can buy a dozen for that price or just go to most any auto store or bearing supply and buy one. Heck, you can buy an entire 400 piece metric or SAE kit for less than $10 at any number of places. Although not the highest quality elastomers out there they're plenty good enough for this application.

CPS leaks are common on high mileage MKIIIs. Metric O rings don't have standard numbering but the CPS uses one 3.5mm X 22.1mm. An AS standard number 212 will also work fine. Either Viton or Nitrile will do the job. No need to set #1 to TDC. Just remove the CPS cover and mark one of the G pickup positions against the Ne gear before pulling the CPS out. Removing the cover also gives you a change to inspect the air gaps, wiring, and clean out the oil that usually accumulates in there. Don't over torque the cover screws during reassembly.

If you don't have a timing light you can also scribe mark the bracket against the head before loosening the CPS bolt but the one mark on the G pickup/Ne gear should be enough. That'll get you back to where you were. Course, if your timing was off to begin with it'll still be. Best is to do what was said and set base timing with a light while E1 and T are jumpered. Might as well set hot idle while you're at it.
