im looking to put in new bolts on my valve cover. i've searched online, and there is a 10mm socket one i believe, not really sure. anyways. i need to upgrade as i've got an valve cover leak. i hate the stupid phillips screws. so the question is. what have u guys used instead of the stock screws ?

Went to A.Z. and matched thread size and length on a bolt with 10mm. head, and got some flat washers as well. Changed the gaskets, and used a drop or 2 of red locktite on each bolt. Haven't had a leak there in over 6 months.

just match everything about the phillips bolt...length, thread pitch etc. and make sure you get new valve cover gaskets too....as an extra reassurance use some RTV on the gaskets too. And as Cuel said, you could also put some lower strength loc-tite on the threads too. just dont crank down the bolts too tight...the head is Alluminum and will strip if you over tighten them...or they will seize when you try to take them out. (sorry if any of that sounds weird, ive had a little to drink tonight)

I ordered a valve cover stud kit from horsepowerfreaks.com. The kit seemed like the perfect replacement to the screws. However, the studs didnt fit and was 2 studs short. They are wasting away in a box now ; \

I picked up some anodized industrial grade bolts from a local supplier. I think I paid like 3$ for em all.

No, I had some other problems with stuff in the same order. By the time I got to bolting the valve covers on it was like a month later. Figured not worth any more hassle.
