Vacuum piping?

Hey guys,

I've just completed my first engine rebuild and removed the EGR system in the process. I blocked off all three EGR ports with block-off plates and removed the EGR vsv.

My question is what do I now do with the vacuum piping where the EGR VSV was? can I just block off the pipe that went to it from under the intake chamber?

I've also removed the fuel pressure up VSV from under there. This VSV has an inlet and outlet vacuum pipe - can I just connect the two together?

Thanks for the help, i'm kinda new to all this. :)

Yes to both questions. On the EGR you can either block the pipe or cap off the port on the throttle body. On FPU VSV just hook the hoses together or run a new one from the FPR to the intake manifold. Don't leave the FPR disconnected or fuel pressure will not track manifold pressure. Look at the hose routing label on your hood for an idea of where everything goes and what you can do to clean things up. Or RTFM.

Thank you. I did indeed read the TSRM before posting, I just wanted to check that what Iwas proposing was not going to cause problems.

Understandably, the TSRM doesn't really lay out the ways in which to remove 'vital' parts of the engine. ;)

Thanks,

No spank taken. :)
I suppose I could've read up more on how the vacuum system works more descriptively with different parts of the engine, but it was easier to just make an assumption and verify it here. :D

Plus, maybe this thread will be of use for someone else further down the track looking to remove some VSVs!
