Vacuum line problems/ sensors???

ok. so. Project Poopra has begun. and already I'm having some snags. so I got the car running, (with the blown turbo) it'd revv and make nice big squeely noises and smoke and all, but no CEL. I got my 60-1 I ordered and installed it, along with an HKS SSQV kit, and I reconnected all the stuff for the turbo and I installed the SSQV according to the HKS instructions included with the kit (mmm. mad tyte JDM instructions... in japanese)

well. now the car starts. it idles pretty rough, and if I try to give it any gas at all it dies quicker than one of Dick Cheney's hunting buddies.

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting random vac lines to see if that was the problem. no change. I tried a couple of sensors., and the only thing that made a difference was disconnecting the AFM plug... it would idle a little higher, a little smoother, but the CEL came on as expected, and when i revved it it smoked like crazy.

could the source of my insanity be a bad AFM? or do I simply have a vacuum line in the wrong place? or maybe worse-

any ideas or oppinions would be highly appreciated- I'm new to the Supra community and It seems I'm not getting off to all too great of a start. lol

bump i am having almost the same problem(vac leak, won't idle very well etc),won't hold boost at high rpm.it will spool but as soon as it hits 5psi it drops to 3.5 from 5k-6k rpm,my waste gate is fine.makes a hissing noise from around the egr.(but its not the egr).i am in the prosses of tearing down to the head. to check all the vacum lines.

btw i am completly stock except for the homemade intake that came on the car.any help would be nice XD

Your engine should die when you disconnect the AFM.

Follow the vac line map on your hood. Get 10 ft of new hose from autozone If you havent replaced them yet, its 7/32 gauge hose and is $0.79 a foot.

You dont need to tear the head down, you should be able to reach under there and feel around to make sure its all connected.

You need to fix any leaks you have. Intake, exhaust, vac, EGR, Intercooler piping.

Have you torn the engine down before? If you have did you replace all the gaskets?

just taking the intake manifold off. i just did a head gasket a few months ago and replaced intake and exhaust manifold gaskets but i dont drive it very much and my brother had his boost gauge off, so i pluged it in and saw what was going on with the guage/boost . and i notice the idle problem when i am completly warmed up.

Please dont throw parts at it find out the problem first cause it will just cost you money and your problem wont get fixed that way.

one simple trick (if your car idles and drives like shit )to see if the AFM is bad is to start the car up and let it idle. while its at shit-idle unplug the AFM. if it all of a sudden idles great then thats your problem.

ok. other guys having the same problem. you know that valve when youre looking at your intake manifold... right towards the front side of the mani, the one with like 4 different vac lines going to it... well. i managed to find out its not my AFM, but something to do with that thing... i dont remember what its called, but im pretty sure thats what is bad- if mine is plugged in, the car will stall if i even tap the gas, with it unplugged it will revv, but it idles bad and high and when revved it makes alot of smoke...
just to check if thats what it is, would you guys that are having the same problem try unplugging it and see what your results are???
