alright i came across this while trying to hook up my boost gauge cuz my stock one doesn't work.
i tapped into the vac line that goes to the stock turbo pressure sending unit and absolutely nothing happened...no vac and no boost showing. so i sat there and scratched my head.
i unplugged the boost gauge, blew into it and it the needle creeps up a bit and when i sucked on it it moved into the vac section so i know the gauge is working. and you can see from the first picture that it's plumped into the correct line.
at this point i'm suspecting a leak from somewhere so this is where i need help.
i don't know how ti check for a vac leak. please help.

also, could someone help me identify the things in the following 2 pics that i pointed to.

thanks

if your not getting any response out of your gauge than you probably have a massive leak or its just not hooked up right.
does your heater or cruise work?

The 1st pic is the vacuum pump for the cruise control actuator; the 2nd pic is the heater control valve...it allows hot coolant into the core when you want heat.

You might have a vac line clogged up...check them for leaks/free flow. You could also try tapping in closer to the nipple on the back of the intake manifold.

Did your stock boost gauge work?

after what you 2 have pointed i'm thinking it's a massive leak considering neither the cruise or the heater works. the stock boost gauge doesn't work either. and all three of those are essentially using the same vac line, right?

i'm pretty sure i have the gauge hooked up correctly. see first pic. you can see the white T i used to tap into the line.

how do i check/fix the leak???

those divices all hook up at the back of the plentum. there is a little nipple. make sure you have vac. there if so. then start checking the hoses going out.

from what i can tell the cruise and stock pressure sensor are using the vac line coming from the heater control valve but i can't see where the heater control is getting it's vac from.
can anyone answer this for me.

thanks again.

yes. it runs along the firewall in a hard line until it gets to the heater vavle.

The easy, no-brainer way...replace all the vacuum hoses you can get to. There's some nice silicone hose kits out there...or just a roll of rubber line like the ones you got (same size), a pair of scissors and go at it.

Rubber vac line is pretty cheap...you'll spend more time trying to find it than it's worth. Besides, I'll bet most of the lines need replacement anyway ;)

antman - i'll check the line you're talking about at the back of the IM.
i think i know exactly what line it is you're talking about too.

what if there is no vac there?

jdub you're right, i probably need to replace most of the hoses anyway.

if there is no vac. there then you might have a problem like jdub said. it might be stopped up.
